Jonathan is a guitarist who shows up, plugs in, and makes it work. He has a versatile range of playing styles, spanning from jazz to metal. Jonathan also has experience working with game developers and creating soundtracks and sound effects for video games. He is comfortable being up front on stage or being in the back, acting as support for the artist. His musical talent doesn’t only cover the guitar: he can sing, play keys, bass, and knows his way around a DAW. Jonathan may not be the flashiest, but he will be the hardest-working musician you’ll ever meet.
Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jonathan was surrounded by country, grunge, rock, and psychedelic rock music since the day he was born. He got his first guitar at the age of seven and hasn’t been able to put it down since. Jonathan first started performing shows when he joined his middle school’s men’s choir in sixth grade. As he grew up, he continued to be a part of his middle school show choir, high school’s men’s choir, jazz choir, and musical theater program. Music has been Jonathan’s way to connect not only with his family, but with the world around him.
The music that surrounded Jonathan’s life has given him many musical heroes and influences. Some of his favorite artists and bands include Van Halen, Steve Vai, Guy Clark, and Masayoshi Takanaka, among many others. His mission is to take all of the lessons he’s learned from his heroes and blend all of them to create a sound that is uniquely his. Jonathan is also building an online teaching business to spread his knowledge to help kids learn about music who grew up in less musically inclined cities like he did. Jonathan wants to help people understand that it doesn’t matter where you grew up; it's the work you put in that will make you successful.
Jonathan has been on stage and worked behind the scenes for many years. As mentioned earlier, Jonathan learned to be comfortable and professional on stage through his experience in the choir and theater programs he attended in school. He would travel with these programs to compete in various competitions and collaborate with musicians through them. Also, during Jonathan’s undergraduate program at Belmont University, he performed with his ensemble and collaborated on many studio sessions. Through these experiences, Jonathan has become an efficient worker both on stage and in the studio.
Jonathan is currently finishing his undergraduate program at Belmont University and is working on a new single that will be out this upcoming winter. Jonathan is also collaborating with new artists and is expecting to begin playing shows around Nashville, Tennessee, with them this fall. These projects will be available on all major streaming platforms. If you have any inquiries about lessons or session work, you can reach out to him by phone or email. Jonathan also updates his social media platforms with the dates that he will be playing live with his friends, so if you would like to see him live, you can check out his Instagram page. If you’re looking for a musician that you can count on, don’t be afraid to give Jonathan a call.
